The National PRISAA Games 2026 Athletics tournament launched with high-intensity finals in the 3000m Steeplechase and Long Jump on May 10. Held at the Panaad Park and Stadium, the opening day saw a balanced distribution of medals across the regions. Host region NIR and Western Visayas (Region VI) secured gold in key categories, while Region II and Region III asserted their dominance in the sandpit and over the hurdles. These early results set a competitive tone for the remainder of the track and field calendar in Bacolod City.

Speed and Power: Day 1 Highlights from Panaad Stadium!

A Performance Defined by Tactical Grit.

The 3000m Steeplechase served as the ultimate test of endurance and technique during the opening day of the National PRISAA Games 2026. In the Men’s Category, Region VI showcased superior late-race stamina, outlasting a crowded pack to claim the Gold medal. They were closely followed by Region VII, who earned a hard-fought Silver, and the host Negros Island Region (NIR), who secured the Bronze to the delight of the local fans.

Excellence Defined by Hurdling Precision.

The Boys' 3000m Steeplechase saw a dominant display of athleticism from Region III (Central Luzon). Their runners maintained a commanding lead over the barriers, leaving no room for a comeback from the chasing pack. While Region III took the top spot, Region V (Bicol) demonstrated their "Oragon" resilience by clinching the Silver medal, with the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) rounding out the podium with a Bronze.

Strength Defined by Explosive Leaps.

The Long Jump pit at Panaad Park and Stadium provided some of the day's most dramatic moments. In the Men’s Category, Region II (Cagayan Valley) delivered a masterclass in flight, leaping to a Gold medal finish. The competition was incredibly tight, as they narrowly edged out Region VI, who added a Silver to their opening day tally, and Region I (Ilocos Region), who took home the Bronze.

A Mission Defined by Home Turf Glory.

The energy reached a fever pitch during the Boys’ Long Jump as the host crowd rallied behind the NIR delegates. The "soaring" performance from the NIR athlete secured a Gold medal, marking a major milestone for the host region on Day 1. Region XI (Davao Region) provided a strong challenge to earn the Silver, while Region III added to their successful day with a Bronze medal finish.

A Future Defined by Athletic Brilliance.

Day 1 has officially set the standard for elite performance at the NPG Negros 2026. With medals already distributed across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the race for the overall athletics championship is wide open. To all the athletes who left it all on the track and in the pit today: your discipline and spirit are what make these games legendary.

Higher. Faster. Stronger. National PRISAA 2026!
