The National PRISAA Games 2026 launched with a spectacular opening ceremony yesterday at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City. Gathering over 13,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from all 17 regions of the Philippines, the event stands as the premier private school sporting meet in the country. Featuring a grand parade of over 600 institutions and high-level national leadership, the ceremony set the stage for a week of elite competition aimed at grassroots development and the shared dream of Olympic excellence.
𝟭𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗔 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 National PRISAA Games 2026 officially opened in spectacular fashion yesterday at Panaad Stadium, gathering more than 13,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from the country’s 17 regions in one of the biggest private school sporting events in the Philippines.
The opening ceremonies came alive with a colorful Grand Parade featuring delegates from over 600 private schools, colleges, and universities across the Philippine archipelago, proudly carrying their regional banners and showcasing the spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and excellence. The annual national meet features competitions in 22 sports disciplines, four cultural events, and two academic categories for high school and collegiate student-athletes aged 25 years old and below. Carrying this year’s inspiring theme, “Inspiring Dreams, Igniting Passion, Innovating Pathways to the Olympics,” the event further strengthened PRISAA’s role as a major grassroots development program that nurtures future national athletes and potential Olympians.
The ceremony was graced by Patrick Gregorio together with commissioners of the Philippine Sports Commission, affirming the government’s continued support for grassroots sports development. Bong Go served as the guest speaker and emphasized the importance of sports in nation-building, youth development, discipline, and national pride. Also present during the grand occasion was Jonvic Remulla, whose attendance highlighted the national significance of the event. Host officials Eugenio Jose Lacson and Greg Gasataya warmly welcomed the thousands of delegates, showcasing the famed Negrense hospitality and culture.
Students from STI West Negros University added grandeur to the opening through vibrant participation and performances, while various colleges and universities from the Negros Island Region delivered breathtaking cultural showcases that earned thunderous applause from the crowd. Under the leadership of Mark Molina, the National PRISAA Games 2026 once again delivered a meaningful and world-class opening ceremony — a celebration of athletic excellence, Filipino culture, and the enduring spirit of unity that will surely leave a lasting imprint in the hearts of every delegate and sports community
